
Hong Kong hit by growing private sector vacancies
Vacancy levels surged 14% to 79,200 in June.
Vacancy levels in Hong Kong’s private sector surged 14% YoY to 79,200 in June as growth in employment (1.4%) failed to keep up pace, according to the Census & Statistics department.

The F&B sector continued to rack up the largest number of unfilled job roles after accounting for 12,060 of total private sector vacancies in June followed by retail trade which was hit by 7,980 vacancies.
The professional and business services, import and export trade, and financing and insurance booked vacancies of 7,870, 6,440 and 6,210 respectively.
The number of vacancies for the human health services also ballooned 111% to 1,980 followed by the transportation, storage, postal and courier services which surged 31% to 1,100.
On the other hand, vacancies plunged by 62% in the industry of construction sites amidst a slew of building works.
