
7 in 10 Hong Kongers prioritise travel over meals out and beauty treatments
A fourth of the respondents are willing to give up these luxuries to set foot in European cities.
Seven in 10 Hong Kongers are willing to give up various luxuries to be able to save up for opportunities to travel outside the region, according to a survey from global travel search engine Skyscanner.
The top four items residents are willing to give up to see and experience the sights beyond Hong Kong include outside meals to high-end restaurants (15.1%) followed by taxi rides to and from work (14.9%).
Hong Kongers would also choose to experience travel opportunities over a beauty treatment (13.3%) and an expensive cup of coffee every day (12.3%).
A fourth of the respondents (25%) revealed that they would give up these luxuries to set foot in cities in Europe closely followed by a desire to visit nearby Asian cities (23%) whilst 16% have expressed desire to go to beaches or countryside destinations.
