Hang Seng Bank rolls out mobile security key to enhance e-banking services
It will replace the need for a physical security device.
Hang Seng Bank unveiled on February 26 a mobile security key embedded in its personal banking app that aims to streamline mobile and online banking services for its digital users.
According to a press release, the key is a digital version of a physical security device which generates security codes for logging onto the bank’s online and mobile banking platforms. Upon activation of the mobile key, customers will no longer need physical security devices to access Hang Seng’s digital banking services.
The bank is also extending the fingerprint authentication coverage of its app to include designated Android mobile devices to enhance the customers’ digital banking experience.
Users of these designated devices will be able to use biometric authentication to log onto the bank’s personal mobile banking platform. Customers will also be able to use biometric authentication to generate security codes and verify specific transactions.
“We are committed to investing in fintech and digital channels to offer customers greater convenience and a simple and easy service experience that meets their evolving needs. The roll-out of Mobile Security Key and the extension of our fingerprint authentication service will further enhance our simple-yet-secure digital banking solutions for customers,” said Hang Seng Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management Margaret Kwan.
The digital service developments will kick into effect on February 27.
