Registered firms in Hong Kong reach close to 1 million
The total number of active local companies registered in Hong Kong rose 4% to 997,750 at the end of June.
The Companies Registry said the total number of newly registered local companies during the first half was 72,427, up almost 3% from 70,338 in the second half of 2011. About 12,580 companies incorporated online via the e-Registry (www.eregistry.gov.hk).
Registrar of Companies Ada Chung noted the capital duty previously levied on local companies was abolished on this June 1 to enhance Hong Kong’s attractiveness as a place of incorporation and its competitiveness as an international business centre.
