
IT job ads in Hong Kong rise 2.6%
Number of ads rose to 28, 417 in Q1 from Q4 2012.
Recruitment firm Robert Walters said the number of IT vacancies in Hong Kong was up 2.6% from 27,689 in Q4 2012 to 28,417 in Q1 2013. Popular vacancies were those for IT supervisor, IT manager, programmer and database administrator.
Robert Walter tracks advertising volumes for various professional positions across leading job boards and national newspapers in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
Overall, job advertising figures in Hong Kong rose by 10.8% from the previous quarter and 17.4% from January to March. The growth was backed by Hong Kong's quarterly GDP jump that leveraged on China's improving economy.
Job ads for retail servicing and sales grew by10.9%, this growth attributed to improved consumer confidence and the growing number Chinese tourists.
Advertising for legal professionals rose by 15.2%, a trend that correlated to the improving conditions on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and increased merger and acquisition activity.
