
Hong Kong's goods exports up 9.8% year-on-year
Imports also rose 8.4%.
The volume of Hong Kong’s total exports of goods increased 9.8% year-on-year in December, while the volume of goods imports increased 8.4%, the Census & Statistics Department announced.
The volume of goods re-exports rose 10%, while that of domestic exports dropped 6.2%.
Comparing 2016 with 2015, the volume of Hong Kong’s goods re-exports increased 1.5%, while that of domestic exports dropped 7%. Taken together, the volume of total goods exports increased 1.4%.
Concurrently, the volume of goods imports increased 1%.
Comparing the fourth quarter of 2016 with the preceding quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of total goods exports increased 3.8%. Within this total, the volume of re-exports increased 3.9%, while that of domestic exports dropped 3.8%.
Concurrently, the volume of goods imports increased 2.4%.
