
Hong Kong exports rose 37% in first two months
Total imports also increased 27.2% in the same period.
The total volume of exported goods from Hong Kong increased by 37.5% in the first two months of the year, whilst imports rose 27.2%, the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) has advised.
The volume of total exports and imports in February alone were likewise up by 29.5% and 16.5%, respectively, compared to the same month last year.
Prices of total exports in the first two months, meanwhile, moved slightly up by 0.1%. Price of total imports increased 0.6% in the same period.
Further, the C&SD recorded double-digit YOY increases in total export volume to India with 36.4% in February. Total export volume also climbed 36.4% in the US, 35.2% in Japan, 30% in Mainland China and 23.9% in Taiwan.
Total export prices to India also increased 1.8% during the same period. It rose 1.6% in Mainland China and 1.2% in Taiwan; whilst prices dropped 0.2% in Japan and 1.2% in the US.
Total import volume from Mainland rose by 34.7%. Double digit increases were also recorded in Singapore (21.6%), Taiwan (19.9%), and Korea (15.4%). Total import volume was down in Japan by 8.9%.
During the same period, prices of import rose 5.2% in Taiwan, 3.3% in Korea, 0.4% in Japan and 0.1% in Singapore; and decreased 0.6% in Mainland China.
