
HKTDC to launch largest promo campaign in Japan
Hong Kong’s goes massive for its "Think Global, Think Hong Kong" campaign in Japan from May 13 to 19.
The campaign, the largest promotional campaign ever launched in Japan by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opens next month in Tokyo and Osaka. It will highlight how Hong Kong can help Japanese companies build new business opportunities in Asia, particularly on the Chinese mainland.
The promotion is expected to attract more than 2,000 Japanese corporate leaders, government officials, heads of small and medium-sized enterprises, services providers, academics and opinion leaders with a special interest in Asia.
There will be two major symposiums in Tokyo that will showcase Hong Kong's role as Asia's services centre and gateway to China business opportunities.
Chief Executive Donald Tsang will present a keynote address at the Tokyo Symposium and at Osaka.
Among the symposium’s topics will be selling consumer brands and distributing creative content on the mainland; exploring partnership opportunities in environmental and manufacturing technology; setting-up in the mainland's Pearl River Delta; taxation and legal advice for doing business on the mainland, and opportunities arising from Hong Kong's expanding renminbi business.
The high-profile speakers from Hong Kong will include Norman Chan, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Hong Kong-Japan Business Cooperation Committee and James E Thompson, Chairman and Chief Executive of Crown Worldwide Holdings Ltd.
HKTDC Executive Director Fred Lam will host a Hong Kong Dinner in Tokyo on May 15 with Tsang as keynote speaker. More than 500 business and political leaders from Hong Kong and Japan are expected to attend the gala evening.
