
HK total goods exports up 9.8% in November
The total export volume to the Mainland, US and Japan was up 11%, 10.7% and 4.6% respectively from November 2009.
In November, the volume of total goods exports increased 9.8% over the same month in 2009, while the volume of imports of goods increased 8.1%.
According to Census & Statistics Department figures released Tuesday, the volume of Hong Kong's goods re-exports went up 9.8% while domestic exports rose 12%.
Comparing the first 11 months of last year with the same period in 2009, the volume of Hong Kong's goods re-exports rose 19.5% while that of domestic exports rose 15.5%. Taken together, the volume of total goods exports was up 19.4%. At the same time, the volume of goods imports increased 19.8%.
Comparing the three-month period ending November last year with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of total goods exports decreased 4.7%. Within this total, the volume of re-exports decreased 4.6% while that of domestic exports decreased 5.8%. At the same time, the volume of goods imports decreased 3.7%, accroding to a Census and Statistics report.
Comparing November last year with November 2009, the prices of goods re-exports increased 6.7% while that of domestic exports increased 6.5%.
As regards price changes in the first 11 months of last year over the same period in 2009, the prices of goods re-exports increased 4.4%, while those of domestic exports increased 5.3%. Taken together, the prices of total goods exports increased 4.4%.
Comparing November last year with November 2009, the total export volume to the Mainland, US and Japan was up 11%, 10.7% and 4.6%.
Over the same period of comparison, the total export prices to all main destinations increased - the Mainland (+7.4%), Japan (+6.8%), USA (+5.7%), Germany (+4.6%) and Taiwan (+4.3%).
